CPA Fall Semester Fund Drive

Greetings Challenge Families,

CPA is continuing our successful financial fund drive this year. These funds are used to augment classroom materials, support special activities, extend learning beyond the classroom, provide professional development materials for our teachers, enable our teachers to do more with the children in the classroom, and provide resources for gifted parenting issues support.

Today you will receive a copy of this form in your child’s take home packet. If you do not receive this form today, you may download it here and send it in with your child or mail it to the address below. Thank you for supporting CPA!

Welcome New and Returning Challenge Families!

CPAThe CPA Board is excited to begin the 2010-2011 school year with all of you in the Challenge Program. We will continue to share important information and opportunities on our Challenge Parent Association website – The Challenge Spot. Here you will find updated content with the latest information on advocacy, special events, board activities and resource links on gifted education.

You can also subscribe to this site in order to receive any new information that we post to keep up to date on all CPA activities. We hope this newly revised site will help bring our community closer together in a fun and informed way.

Will We See You at the BBQ?

One last reminder that our annual Challenge Families Summer BBQ is this Sunday, August 29th starting at 11:30 a.m. at North Lynnwood Neighborhood Park, 18510 44th Avenue West (Picnic Shelter #1). The weather forecast looks to be pleasant for that day, so please plan to bring appropriate clothing and gear for lounging on the grass, running through the water spray, climbing the “rock”, shooting some hoops, swings, slides, monkey bars, and even a possible kick ball game.

Volunteers Needed on August 11, 2010 for Levy Ballot Measure

Edmonds School District has a Supplemental School Programs and Operations Levy on the ballot that was sent out to all registered voters in the district on July 26th. The election day (and postmark date for mailed in ballots) is Tuesday, August 17th. The Edmonds Education Association (EEA) is holding a series of phone call nights to spread the word about the levy election. Scripts are provided; it’s simple and a great way to support our school district and our students.

Parents from Terrace Park Elementary are asked to help on August 11th either from 5:00-6:30 p.m. or 6:30-8:00 p.m.  Phone calls occur at the EEA Offices in Lynnwood.  If you are interested and can help with either time slot please email Brett Hagen at bretthgn@hotmail.com to confirm.  A total of 11 people can work each shift.

To learn more about the levy, please visit this page on the Edmonds School District website.

Summer Family Park Dates in July and August

When your schedule permits, take a break in the middle of the week…in the middle of the day… in the middle of a park! Challenge program families (former, current, and future) are all welcome to bring a picnic lunch, outdoor games and toys, and optimistic amounts of sunscreen for some relaxing fun in the (hopefully) sun every Wednesday afternoon at various parks around the Edmonds School District during the months of July and August. Whenever possible, members of the CPA board will try to attend. These are just informal opportunities for families to get together. If you’ve got a Terrace Park or Gifted Education Day t-shirt, please try to wear it to allow for easy recognition by new families. We will target gathering between 11:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m. at the following parks:
