One last reminder that our annual Challenge Families Summer BBQ is this Sunday, August 29th starting at 11:30 a.m. at North Lynnwood Neighborhood Park, 18510 44th Avenue West (Picnic Shelter #1). The weather forecast looks to be pleasant for that day, so please plan to bring appropriate clothing and gear for lounging and dining on the grass, running through the water spray, flying a kite, climbing the “rock”, shooting some hoops, swings, slides, monkey bars, and even a possible kick ball game.
CPA is providing the food to grill, condiments, plates, cups, and utensils. We ask that you all bring items from the designation below:
- Last Names starting with A-G: Beverages
- Last Names starting with H-O: Side dishes, salads, or chips
- Last Names starting with P-Z: Desserts
Parking can sometimes be an issue. If the park’s lot off 44th Avenue W is full, please try parking in the Lynnwood Elementary lot immediately adjacent to the park (south). You could also look for street parking on the back (west) side of the park on 185th Place SW. To access the park from this location take 188th Street SW to 48th Avenue W. Go north on 48th Avenue W, then east on 183rd Place SW. 183rd Place SW will turn southward and become 46th Place W. 46th Place W deadends into 185th Place SW. The park is at the east (left) end of 185th Place SW.

CPA will also have available for purchase our purple Gifted Education Day t-shirts. Shirts are $8.00 each and can be purchased with cash or check at the picnic, or you can take an order form home and get your shirts later. These shirts show your support for gifted education, and have become the official gear for Challenge families who travel to Olympia for Gifted Education Day each year.
