Final CPA Fund Drive of the Year!

We are currently conducting our final fund drive of the 2010-2011 school year. Funds donated to CPA are tax deductible, and may be eligible for employer matching fund donations. Money raised is used throughout the school year to support our students, their families, and the Challenge classrooms to provide support and specialized curriculum options.

If you are on the three-part annual donation plan, or you have not had the opportunity to contribute yet this year, please download a copy of the Spring 2010 Fund Drive form and send it in with your contribution by May 21st. If you have made your full contribution for this school year, we thank you for your generous support!

Parent Coffee Chat on Sunday, April 18th

Please plan to join members of the CPA board and your fellow parents at our third monthly Coffee Chat on Sunday, April 18th at 2:00 p.m. at the Caffe Ladro in the Five Corners neighborhood of Edmonds at 8403 Main Street, next to the Mieko’s Fitness. This is an informal opportunity to discuss any challenges and issues of concern for parents of gifted students. Parents of gifted students who do not attend Terrace Park are welcome as well. Come share your questions, concerns, ideas, and observations.

Challenge Program Receives Achievement Awards from Washington State

Congratulations to the Challenge faculty for winning three 2009 Washington Achievement Awards! The Challenge program was honored with awards in Language Arts, Math, and Overall Excellence. The awards are conferred by the Office of the Superintendent of Public Instruction and the Washington State Board of Education. The Washington Achievement Awards recognize the state’s top-performing schools. Recipients demonstrate the capacity to profoundly affect student learning. The Overall Achievement Awards are given to the top five percent of all schools across the state. Challenge is one of two schools in Edmonds School District to receive an award, and one of only eight schools statewide to be recognized in three or more areas of achievement.

These are truly impressive achievements! For more information about this year’s winners and how schools qualify for these honors, visit the Educator Awards page on the Office of the Superintendent of Public Instruction’s website.

Attention Parents of 6th Grade Students

Your Challenge student will be automatically rolled up to Brier Terrace Middle School Gifted Program for 7th grade. If your child is going to BTM, you can stop reading.

If your child is not going to BTM, please let us know and go to your neighborhood home school for registration information.

If your child is not going to BTM or to your neighborhood or home school, the form for middle/high school transfers will need to be received at the Edmonds School District Office before Friday, FEBRUARY 12, 2010.

The 2010-2011 transfer form is different than the 2009-2010 form. Either form can be downloaded from the district website; www.edmonds.wednet.edu
