Guest Speakers at May General Meeting–Tuesday, May 18th, 2010

EdesTalk

Please plan to attend the final general meeting of the school year on Tuesday, May 18th. The meeting will convene at 6:30 p.m. and will include a membership vote on the board for the 2010-2011 school year as well as updates on board actions and activities. Following the general meeting, Drs. Fernette and Brock Eide will speak about the special needs of gifted and “twice exceptional” (gifted with learning disabilities) children.

As the founders of the Eide Neurolearning Clinic in Edmonds, the doctors are dedicated to promoting the talents and strengths of all children, and that a practical understanding of a child’s native strengths and challenges can have a powerful effect on his or her life’s course. Their special interest is in testing and advocating for dyslexic children who are twice-exceptional – or gifted with learning disabilities, and are members of the professional advisory board to SENG (Supporting the Emotional Needs of Gifted Children).
In addition to their clinical and advisory work, they are also the authors of The Mislabeled Child, a highly praised parenting book with much valuable insight and information useful to all parents. CPA is working with local booksellers to have copies of this book available for purchase the evening of the 18th.
