Treasurer’s report: (Tracy)
• $6790 in donations received so far. Also, received two checks from GoodShop/
Search (Oct & Nov. for previous year) and this reflects two years worth at $271. Our
legal name is updated too.
• We are close to our total income for the year already.
• CPA is not budgeting for scholarships anymore. PTA handles this now for the entire
school.
• IRS – Tracy discovered they listed us as a private foundation – but it’s resolved and
Tracy was able to submit the taxes and matching form.
• Winter pledge drive – need a statement about matching funds being accepted and
also a message to disregard if they’ve paid for the year vs. quarterly. We will post
online and also for the electronic Thursday packet. We need paper forms for for eve-
ryone just to make sure they don’t get missed. Timing is week after Gifted Ed Day.
*Maybe include info on latest legislative info. – Tracy and Tina to create a 1st draft.
Sue to send original file to Tina.
Monthly Coffee Chats (Ginger & Sue)
This Saturday Coffee Corner 10:00. Expecting maybe 10 people – maybe alternating Saturday
and Sundays to accommodate other parents. Sue suggested email/number exchange. Tina to
bring a sheet for folks to sign up and share contact info with other parents.
Levy Awareness Calls – January 26th – still recruiting parents to make calls to target residents.
Gifted Education Day- 4th Graders are all taking a field trip down. Buses are not allowed on
campus. Bus cost $370 for one bus. Need to survey and find out exact student count to budget
for the bus. Possibly 41. Need shirts and permission slips. Ask families to purchase shirts & pay
maybe $10 total to help cover the bus expense. Provide scholarships for those who need the
cost covered. Ginger to discuss all field trip aspects with Brett Hagen and Pam Gaspers (rec-
ommendations on chaperons for Mrs. Hall’s class)
No tours are currently being offered. But Sue is waiting to hear from Barbara to see if she can
get a tour set up for us as a group.
*** Need to link to the information provided by the Coalition on the website***
Letters – Ginger is placing envelopes in teacher mailboxes to collect letters from students to leg-
islators. We are looking at sharing as many student letters as we can. We will look at Costco for
printing services (double sided) and simple binding. Will provide a cover letter from the CPA as
well. Deadline is the 27th to collect letters and we will need to set up a time to review letters and
process.
Plan is to meet at school for carpooling.
T-Shirts – Megan is working on ordering these. We will add t-shirt sizes to sign up sheet to get
an idea on the amount to order. They need a week turn around time for t-shirt orders.
Recap of Past Events:
WAETAG was very successful. Problems: wanted more vendors, rooms were ice cold, needed
more chairs. Otherwise – phenomenal. Tracy will send emails to teachers she didn’t receive re-
ceipts from in order to reimburse them.
Bio Lyle – 11 people attended. He was great and presented very understandable hands-on info
to the students.
Beyond Challenge – Nice turnout, good presentations and great feedback. We would like to
bring this event back every year. *Maybe link to the video/presentation a followup post from the
event on our website.
