    You’ll hear sessions that include:

Saturday’s opening general session with Howard Gardner, “Multiple Intelligences: The First 25 Years.” Gardner, the Hobbs Professor of Cognition and Education at the Harvard Graduate School of Education, has a vast body of work (more than 20 books published) that bring together many disciplines and centers around cognitive development and human potential. With his pioneering theory of multiple intelligences, teachers took note, as they sought to develop teaching strategies to reach all learners and ensure success in the classroom. Classroom teachers can pull a great deal from his work, from the assessment of student strengths, to learning how to differentiate instruction based on student abilities. He brings to this session a compelling message on how giftedness, talent, and creativity play a role in the classroom.

Choice of three session tracks: Parents, Critical Issues, and Putting It into Practice (three sessions per time period for a total of 15 sessions).

The E. Paul Torrance Creativity Session with Howard Gardner and Dean Keith Simonton, “Larger Than Life: Exploring the Lives of Eminent Creators.” Creative lives provide patterns for the development of talents. What lessons have we learned from the life stories of creators? How have we used biography to learn them? What can be learned from reading a good book about someone else’s life? Don’t miss your opportunity to hear from two towering figures in the study of creativity as they share their experience and their insights into well-known eminent figures. This session will be moderated by NAGC President Ann Robinson.
