Replacement Technology/Capital Levy

Election Day — Tuesday, February 14, 2012

The Edmonds School District is holding an election Tuesday, February 14, 2012 to renew its Technology/Capital Levy.  The decision to put this measure on the ballot was reviewed extensively, and the levy will collect the same amount approved by voters in 2008, helping the District’s students keep pace with today’s learning needs. The Capital portion of the replacement levy will also address priority safety issues. Details about this four-year replacement measure are available at www.edmonds.wednet.edu/2012levy.

Why is this important?

The capital improvements and technology levy will provide the Edmonds school district with $31 million dollars over the next 4 years ($24 million for technology and $7 million for capital improvements).  This money is critical to keeping our schools safe and technologically up-to-date

How much will this cost?

This is not a new levy.  This is a replacement levy.  So, you will not pay any more taxes than you currently pay.

But school levies in our district always pass . . .

  • February 2010: Operations Levy – Passed with 66% approval
  • August 2010: Supplemental Levy – Passed with 54% approval
  • February 2012: Capital Improvements and Technology Levy – ???

We cannot afford to lose any more voter support for our vital school levies.
