Please join the CPA board on Thursday, January 6th in the Terrace Park Commons at 6:30 for a planning and information session on Washington State Gifted Education Day.
Gifted Education Day is an annual event held at the Capitol in Olympia. Challenge program families have attended in large numbers for several years now. While annual attendance is important, this is an especially crucial year for us to show the legislature how important gifted education is for our children and our families.
Thursday’s meeting will be dedicated solely to Gifted Education Day preparations. Please come with your questions, ideas, and please have the following with you:
1. Your state legislative district (or at least your home address). Since Edmonds School District crosses four legislative districts, and legislators prefer to meet with their district’s constituents, this will help us make sure we get the best possible meeting schedule.
2. Your transportation status. Are you able to drive? How many other people can you take with you in your car? Do you need a ride? How many seats do you need in someone else’s vehicle?
3. Get your t-shirts! We will be wearing the same shirt designs we’ve worn for the last few years, so if you have a shirt from a previous year—you’re good to go. If you haven’t purchased shirts yet, you can do so at this meeting. The sea of purple makes quite an impression as it washes over the Capitol campus.
CPA will provide light snacks and beverages for the meeting. We will also have handouts from the Coalition for Gifted Education and other organizations involved in the planning and preparations for Gifted Education Day.
We hope to see you there!
