This year, WAETAG (Washington Association of Educators of the Talented and Gifted) will offer a “Parent Track” at it’s annual conference to be held next month at the Bellevue Hilton Hotel. “Proficiency Is Not Enough” is this year’s theme.

Parent Track Registration includes Saturday, October 16, meals and materials, keynotes and Parent Track breakout sessions, and admission to the vendor marketplace. One year Northwest Gifted Child Association (NWGCA) Membership is included with parent track conference registration. Registration Fee (until September 30) is $150 (increases to $200 on October 1).

The conference begins at 8 AM with breakfast and concludes at 5 PM.

Attend this facilitated session based on excerpts from SENG’s webinar, The Gifted Child: Superachiever or Underachiever–Parents and Teachers Make the Difference, presented by Sylvia Rimm. Gain new tools to help your children seek and reach their real potential. Learn some new techniques from other parents.

“Be a Powerful Advocate for Gifted”
Moderator – Marcia Holland
Join this forum on being a powerful advocate for gifted – your child, your school, your district, our state, our nation. Get caught up on what’s new in Washington. Sharpen your advocacy skills so that you will be heard and get results. Share what you know. Learn from others. Collect resources.

2:15 p.m. – 3:15 p.m.
“Gifted Organization Skills – an Oxymoron?”
Facilitator – Marcia Holland
Parents share, in a facilitated dialogue, the challenges, frustrations, and successes of helping our gifted children get and stay organized. Hone your creativity, sense of humor, patience, and belief in ultimate success. Explore learning and thinking styles that require different approaches to organization for different kids.
